New book challenges businesses to regain the upper hand in reputation management
Regester Larkin managing director, Andrew Griffin, has released his first book ‘New Strategies for Reputation Management – Gaining Control of Issues, Crises and Corporate Social Responsibility’.
The book questions the adequacy of existing corporate reputation management strategies in a world of global issues, high external scrutiny and increasing demands on business. Many companies have been doing reputation management for over a decade, but surveys show that trust in companies and business leaders is getting ever lower. The book challenges companies and their leaders to take a more assertive stance on issues, to reassess their crisis management strategies and to change the terms of debate on social responsibility. Only in this way will companies start to regain the initiative in reputation management.
Head of Group Corporate Relations at HSBC Holdings, Ivor Godfrey-Davies, said: "this book delves into a complex and uncertain area of communication. It is insightful and thought-provoking and challenges many of the traditional beliefs about reputation management which are unsuited to the realities of the world of mass and almost-instant communication. A must-read for old hands and newcomers alike, it contains valuable lessons and guidance for all."
The book is published by Kogan Page and is available now.

Reputation Risk versus Legal Risk in a Crisis - is there always a conflict?
Mike Regester, founding director of Regester Larkin, recently chaired an all-day conference for in-house lawyers organised jointly by Regester Larkin and Osborne Clarke, voted Legal Week Law Firm of the Year 2006.
A primary objective of the conference was to discuss how, in a crisis situation, potential conflicts between advice given by the legal team with advice given by the communication team can be resolved to the ultimate benefit of the organisation in crisis.
Speakers included Guy Wilkes from Osborne Clarke, Bob Piggott, Head of Group Crisis Management, HSBC, John Burchill, acting Head of Legal for Domino’s Pizza Group and Tim Johnson, board member of Regester Larkin.
Mike Regester summarises as follows: read on.
