Regester Larkin: the art of damage control
8 April 2010
The Financial Times today carried an extended interview with two RL directors detailing what businesses need to do during a crisis to effectively manage their communications.
In ‘The art of damage control’, managing director, Andrew Griffin explained how the first two hours of a crisis are the most critical and companies must be visible: “If you are taking actions and not telling anyone you might as well not bother.”
Meanwhile RL’s founder and director, Mike Regester, commented that there might be tensions between his team and clients’ legal directors in the event of a crisis: “They’re saying‘say nothing, do nothing, admit nothing’ and I’m sitting on the other shoulder saying ‘tell it all, tell it fast, and tell it truthfully’.”
Within the article Andrew and Mike discussed wider examples of good and bad communications during different crises including Toyota, Nestle and Pan Am. Read article
